Join Chef Rachael and her sidekick, Dad, as they present recipes that are both easy to make and delicious!  Each dish is made from a small number of ingredients so that other Chefs, both Little and Special, can get into the kitchen (with a little help) and participate in making meals for the family!  Nothing makes a child or a person with special needs feel better than knowing they overcome their challenges and participate in life the same as anyone else!

Cooking Together

The best part of being a parent is seeing that smile on your child's face and knowing that you're doing your job right.  Presenting the world to our kids is not an easy task.  We want to protect them and filter the harshness out of what they're exposed to, and sometimes we forget that the best way for kids to grow into the adults we want them to be is by letting them participate in activities like cooking.

Cooking Made Fun

The same is true with our children who have Special Needs.  Rachael is mentally challenged and has suffers from seizures that have, over time, eroded her vision and her ability to perform precise motor functions.  When she's in the kitchen with Dad, she feels as if those limitations no longer matter.  With some simple modifications to recipes, she can create dishes that are entirely her own, made by her hands (with a little help, because ovens are really hot!).  The smile of joy on her face when she achieves what other people think she should not be able to achieve is priceless.
